Dr. Kaunda District joins Motsweding FM to bring smiles to Ikalafeng Special School learners.
Kaunda District, Ikageng township, a Saturday morning of 26 July 2008, brought the North West SABC FM Regional station, Motsweding and Dr. Kenneth Kaunda together to make a difference to the lives of Ikalafeng special school headed by Mr. Zulu Mochacha.
Initiated from the office of the Executive mayor’s special desk led by Mr. Nthoane Mosiane, the Motsweding’s dream Catcher project of Bosele identified the school to benefit from the SABC’s Green revolution campaign. The green revolution campaign shares the district’s value of conversations and partnerships, restoration of human dignity and building a common future.
For the district ‘s new brand and vision of exploring prosperity through sustainable quality service delivery for all, a request of a fence for their garden was received by the Acting Mayor, MMC for infrastructure, Rainy Martin. This request is being given attention by the Executive Mayor Moloi. Martins in her response emphasized the district’s commitment to responding to the needs of people living with disabilities, the mayor has set aside from her bursary fund some monies mainly to benefit people with disabilities. That her office also fund different NGOs as per request. This year is funding Merafong Local Municipality an amount of R750 000 for installation of a lift in the council main building.
The school has raised amongst others a need for upgrading and extension of the boarding house, upgrading of the gardens. The SABC provided gardening implements and vegetable seedlings.
